Welcome back to Yarn Inspiration Patterns, where cozy creativity meets heartfelt design! Today, we’re thrilled to share a sweet and textured project that’s perfect for gifting, charity, or simply adding a little extra love to your crochet collection: the Heart Bobble Square.
This delightful square features a raised heart motif formed by bobble stitches, adding both texture and charm. Whether you’re crafting for Yarn Blog or building a blanket of love for someone special, this square is simple, satisfying, and easy to customize.
🧶 Materials and Sizing
To make your own Heart Bobble Square, you’ll need:
-
Yarn: Any worsted weight yarn
-
Hook: 5.5 mm crochet hook
-
Size & Gauge: The finished square should be 8″ x 8″ if you’re sending it to KAS. If your square comes out a little smaller, feel free to add a single crochet or double crochet border to meet the required size.

📖 Abbreviations & Stitches
Before you begin, here are the stitches and abbreviations you’ll use in this pattern:
-
b – bobble
-
ch – chain
-
dc – double crochet
-
sc – single crochet
-
sts – stitches
Bobble Stitch (b):
Work 4 dc in the same stitch, but do not complete the last step of each dc. You’ll have 5 loops on your hook. Yarn over and draw through all 5 loops at once. That’s your bobble!
❤️ Heart Bobble Square Pattern
This square is worked in rows from a foundation chain of 28. Each row has 27 stitches. At the end of every row, ch 1 and turn.
You’ll follow a color or symbol chart, where:
-
White squares = sc
-
Blue squares = bobble (b)
This creates a beautiful puffed heart design in the center of your square.
Foundation:
Ch 28.
Row 1 onward:
Following the heart bobble chart, work a sc in every white square, and a bobble (b) in every blue square.
After each row: ch 1 and turn.
Continue this way until the heart design is complete.
If your square measures less than 8″, add a simple border of single crochets evenly around the edge to meet size requirements—perfect for joining with other squares in a larger project!

💡 Tips for Success
-
Use a solid color for best contrast and to highlight the heart texture.
-
Don’t pull the bobble stitches too tight—they puff better with a little room to bloom!
-
Consider blocking your square for clean edges and uniform size.
🧵 Final Thoughts
The Heart Bobble Square is more than just a square—it’s a symbol of warmth, care, and love stitched into every row. It’s a perfect addition to charity blankets, especially for organizations like Knit-a-Square, and a beautiful way to spread kindness one stitch at a time.
