Lace-Edged Crochet Parasol

Finished Size:
Diameter: 6.5 cm (2.56″)
Height: 12.5cm (4.92″)

Materials:

  • 20 cm (7.87″) of satin bias tape (1 cm wide)

  • 30 cm (11.8″) of white lace

  • 10 cm (3.93″) of golden ribbon (3 mm wide)

  • 15 cm (5.9″) of ribbon (5 mm wide)

  • 1 bead (approx. 5 mm diameter)

  • 1 matchstick or similar rod for handle

  • Thin wire to create a small loop (to support the open parasol)

Instructions:

Round 1:
Chain 8 and close into a loop. Work 3 double crochets (dc), chain 2 – repeat this 7 times. Join with a slip stitch in the 3rd chain of the beginning ch-5.

Round 2:
3 dc into each ch-2 space, chain 2, repeat around.

Round 3:
Work 1 dc in each dc, chain 2, repeat.

Round 4:
3 dc, chain 3, repeat.

Round 5:
3 dc, chain 3, 1 single crochet (sc) in the center of the previous round’s ch-3 arc, repeat around.

Round 6:
3 dc, chain 5, 1 sc in the center of previous arc, repeat.

Round 7:
3 dc, chain 3, 1 sc in the center of previous arc, repeat.

Finishing & Assembly:

  • Sew the satin bias tape to the center of the parasol to create a clean center line.

  • Insert and secure the matchstick or handle into the central hole.

  • Wrap the golden ribbon around the stick to decorate the handle.

  • Stitch the lace carefully around the outer edge of the parasol.

  • Use the wire to form a small ring on the underside for structure (see diagram in original image).

  • Add a small bow or embellishment with the remaining ribbon if desired.
