Materials

• Yarn:
  • Perfect Match, 6 skeins of White (MC)
  • 5 skeins of Rose (Color A)
  • 2 skeins of Soft Sage (Color B)
• Hook: Size L crochet hook

Gauge

• Each square measures 9″ x 9″.

Instructions

Squares

You’ll need to make 30 squares for the afghan and 4 squares for the pillow.

Rnd 1: With Color A, ch 4, join with a sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 2: Ch 5, *1 dc in ring, ch 2; repeat from * 6 times more, join with a sl st to 3rd st of ch. You should have 8 ch-2 spaces.
Rnd 3: *(1 sc, 4 dc, 1 sc) in next ch-2 sp; repeat from * 7 times more, join. 8 petals.
Rnd 4: *ch 4, 1 sc in sc between next 2 petals; repeat from * 6 times more, ch 4, join.
Rnd 5: *(1 sc, 6 dc, 1 sc) in next ch-4 sp; repeat from * 7 times more, join.

Rnd 6: Repeat Rnd 4.
Rnd 7: *(1 sc, 8 dc, 1 sc) in next ch-4 sp; repeat from * 7 times more, join. Fasten off Color A.
Rnd 8: On the right side, join Color B between any 2 petals in a sc, *ch 5, yo twice, insert hook in sc between next 2 petals, yo and draw up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook twice. In the same space, (yo twice, yo and draw up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops twice) two times more, yo and draw through 4 loops – cluster made. Ch 2, make 2 more clusters in the same space. Ch 5, sc in sc between the next 4 petals. Repeat from * so that you have 4 groups of 3 clusters – 4 corners. Fasten off Color B.

Rnd 9: Join MC in ch-5 space before any corner, ch 3, 4 dc in the same space, *2 dc in next ch-2 sp, in center cluster (1 dc, ch 2, 1 dc) (corner), 2 dc in next ch-2 sp, (5 dc in next ch-5 sp) twice; repeat from *, ending with 5 dc in the last ch-5 sp, join. Note: A space will be between groups of 5 dc’s and also groups of 3 dc’s before corners.

Rnds 10-12: Ch 3, 4 dc in the same joining space, 5 dc in the next space, *(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in ch-2 corner space, 5 dc in the next space and each space to corner space; repeat from * around, join. Fasten off MC at the end of Rnd 12.
Rnd 13: Attach Color A in any space on the right side. *ch 5, sc in the next space; repeat from * around, join and fasten off.

Joining Squares

Holding right sides together, attach Color A in a corner of the first square, ch 2, sc in the same corner of the second square, *ch 2, sc in the next ch-5 space of the first square, ch 2, sc in the same ch-5 space of the second square; repeat from *, working in this manner to attach all squares together. Work a pattern of 5 squares wide and 6 squares long. For the pillow, work 2 squares wide and 2 squares long.

Pillow Back

Rnd 1: Ch 5, join with a sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in ring, ch 3, (3 dc, ch 3) 3 times, join with sl st in top of ch 3. Sl st to corner.
Rnd 3: Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc, ch 1, (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc, ch 1) 3 times, sl st in top of beg ch 3. Rnd 4: Ch 3, 2 dc in the previous ch-1 space, ch 1, (3 dc, ch 1) in each ch-1 space, (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc, ch 1) in each corner, sl st in top of beg ch 3. Rnds 5-19: Repeat Rnd 4. On Rnd 19, end with sl st in top of beg dc.

Outer Edge

Attach Color A in the outer corner of the afghan or pillow. Work around in (1 sc, 6 dc, 1 sc) in each ch-5 space and also in the center joining of lattice space. Fasten off.

Care Instructions

Machine Wash: Warm water, gentle cycle.
Machine Dry: Low heat, delicate cycle.
