Braided Mile-A-Minute Afghan

The Braided Mile-A-Minute Afghan is a classic crochet design with a beautiful twist—literally. Instead of working the blanket all at once, you create long textured strips that are later braided together to form a rich, dimensional fabric. This technique makes the project feel faster and more manageable, while the final result looks intricate and impressive.

This afghan is perfect if you enjoy rhythmic rows, strong visual texture, and a construction method that’s a little different from the usual row-by-row blanket. The braiding step adds depth and movement, giving the finished piece a woven appearance that works beautifully in both traditional and modern spaces.

With a generous finished size and sturdy worsted-weight yarn, this afghan is ideal for cozy evenings, heirloom gifting, or adding a handcrafted statement to your home.

  • Secure each end with safety pins to hold the braid in place

Repeat this process until all panels are completed.
